Jonathan Schucolsky | 2024 Rising Star Award

Sifu Jonathan’s Schucolsky’s martial arts journey began at the age of seven and has since spanned over three decades, during which he achieved a fourth degree black belt in American Taekwondo and became a Pennsylvania State Champion. His dedication to teaching led him to instruct students across a broad age range, host numerous seminars, and lead martial arts camps. Jonathan’s expertise extended into developing after-school enrichment programs, notably co-founding Young Ninjas USA, an initiative that introduced non-contact martial arts to over 800 children weekly across 75 schools in Los Angeles County. His collaboration with the Bruce Lee Foundation further emphasized his commitment to youth martial arts education, co-creating Camp Bruce Lee to provide free martial arts camps to children. Since 2019, Sifu Jonathan has had the privilege of practicing the Southern Shaolin – Hang Ling Do system through Grand Master Tom Farrar, Sifu Darrell Gooden, and Sifu Bill McGrew. In 2024, Sifu Jonathan continues his work with young people, focusing on teaching the Southern Shaolin – Hang Ling Do curriculum to children in after-school programs across Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties, continuing his passion for enriching young lives through Traditional Kung Fu complimented by his 30 years of martial arts experience.
