Viet Le was born in Torrance, CA and spent most of his formative years in Southern California. He started his martial arts training at the age of 7 in Northern Shaolin and Northern Praying Mantis under Shifu Clyde King III, who was an instructor under Shifu Duke Cheng of Buena Park, CA.

While in college at UCLA, he became interested in learning Taijiquan. At the time, Shifu Jason Tsou was teaching Yang Style Taijiquan as part of the Department of World Art and Culture. From that introduction, he began studying with Shifu Jason Tsou in the Wutan Association, mainly in the arts of Bajiquan, Baguazhang, Northern Praying Mantis, and Yang/Chen style Taijiquan. He became Shifu Jason Tsou’s disciple in 2011.

In 2015, he was accepted to medical school and graduated from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2019, he completed his Neurology residency in Michigan and in 2020 a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology (specializing in dementia) at the University of Cincinnati. He currently works as a behavioral neurologist in Tacoma, Washington.

Viet would like to credit his martial father (shifu) with not only teaching him Chinese martial arts, but also for being a guide and mentor. Through his shifu, Viet has been able to build on his language skills and learn more about Chinese history and culture. In 2023, Viet went to Taiwan on his own and was recognized as a head of a branch of the Wutan organization, Wutan Seattle. Viet would also like to thank his mother, Dr. Bic Dang, for being a source of support in his medical career, as well as his wife Jenny and daughter Lydia (who are not here today) who he cares and loves very much.
