About Sifu Chen
Sifu Sing-May Chen has been an active and influential member of the Los Angeles Tai Chi community since 2005. Her martial arts journey began at age 19 in Foshan, China, where she first discovered her passion for Tai Chi. After moving to the United States, she continued her training in Cupertino and Los Angeles, developing a comprehensive portfolio that spans multiple styles and disciplines.
Sifu Chen is passionate about teaching and promoting Tai Chi and Chinese martial arts through her work with organizations such as the International Tai Chi Cultural Exchange Association and the annual World Tai Chi and Qigong Days in Los Angeles and Irvine. Since 2010, she has organized the annual Hundred-Person Tai Chi 24 Demonstration (百⼈太極拳) at the Rosemead Fitness Day & Health Fair, highlighting Tai Chi’s accessibility for all ages and abilities.

Sifu Chen’s objective is to guide students in building a strong foundation while fostering an enjoyable learning environment. She specializes in working with beginning and intermediate-level students looking to strengthen their foundation, broaden their portfolio, and prepare for competition.

Lineage & Training
Sifu Chen studied Yang Style under Grandmaster Zeng Qun and Grandmaster Ou Rongju, with further training from Master Russell Qiu, Master Guo Jie, and Grandmaster Zeng Nailing of China. She received Five Family Kung Fu style training from Master Ed Torres.

Sifu Chen’s Tai Chi demonstration was featured in Johnson & Johnson’s “Never Stop Moving” commercial alongside Coach K, which aired on national television during the 2008 Summer Olympics. Her community work has been covered in news publications such as the World Journal (世界⽇報).
As the lead organizer of the annual Hundred-Person Tai Chi 24 Demonstration held every November at the Rosemead Fitness Day & Health Fair, Sifu Chen continues to promote the accessibility and health benefits of Tai Chi to diverse communities.
