Sifu Sing-May Chen started training in Taichi at a young age in her hometown of Foshan, China. Growing up in a Chinese city famous for its Kung Fu tradition, she was inspired by previous generations who had upheld and perfected the martial arts. Sifu Chen has been practicing, teaching and judging Taichi in California since 2005. She is active in local community as well as regional, national and international Taichi events and competitions. Her portfolio includes Yang Style, Chen Style, Qigong, and weapons (sword, broad sword, staff, fan, double fan, and horsetail whisk). She received her training from Masters Russell Qiu and Guo Jie as well as Grand Master Zeng Nailing of China. She is also trained in the Five Family Kung Fu style by Master Ed Torres. A 3-time Grand Champion, Sifu Chen has won titles at the 2011 USAWKF Golden State International Championship, 2011 ICMAC San Diego Championship, and 2010 UC Berkeley Chinese Martial Arts Tournament. She is certified as a Taichi Instructor by the American Taichi Health Qigong Center. Sifu Chen has also devoted her time and energy to promote Taichi and Chinese culture with a wide range of organizations, including the International Taichi Cultural Exchange Association, 2008 Olympics Los Angeles Taichi Festival, and World Taichi Qigong Days in Los Angeles and Irvine. She has been involved with the Annual Fitness & Health Fair in Rosemead since 2010, serving as a head judge for the Taichi & Fitness team contest and organizing 100-person Taichi demonstrations that highlight Taichi's accessibility for all.
