In 1970, Sifu Ray Chan started his training of Buk Xing Choy Lay Fut (BXCLF) 北勝蔡李佛in Hong Kong under Master Tarm Shing譚勝. Subsequently, Sifu Chan advanced his combat skills in Canada through the mentorship of Grandmaster Lun Chee倫枝, the gatekeeper of BXCLF. In 2008, Sifu Chan established the Los Angeles Buk Xing Gwoon 洛杉磯北勝舘 and has been teaching a group of private students since. BXCLF, founded by Tarm Sarm譚三 in 1910, focuses on the combat aspect of martial arts. Its combat techniques and strategies are built on swift footwork, combat distance gauging, strikes’ speed, power, frequency, accuracy, and timing.
